When bringing your puppy home for the first time the first few hours can be daunting. A puppy needs more than you can imagine. Your new family member will require constant care with a never-ending cycle of eating and pooping. Your puppy will need a dedicated area and implementation of a few preventive measures. Everything will be much simpler if you know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. The following puppy caring tips will help you raise a cute and healthy fluff with ease and joy.
1. Getting your home ready:
Your puppy may start shrieking as soon as you are out of sight, but you shouldn’t keep them on your bed with you all the time. The best approach is to designate an area for them in your home with a cozy bed filled with toys and food. This will help the puppy settle into and familiarise with their surroundings. Puppies have the habit of chewing everything, so you must keep hazardous objects out of their reach to prevent any unwanted incidents.
2. Feeding:
A puppy requires a specific diet, with various ingredients in the food, you should never give adult food to a puppy. Always follow the instructions of the Association of American Feed Control Officials’ (AAFCO) on the pack for young doggies. Look for the ingredients that meet its nutrition requirements and provide food according to body needs which vary with the age:
• 4 meals per day for 6 to 12 weeks
• 3 meals per day for 3 to 6 months
• 2 meals per day for 6 to 12 months
