【VMC Vets Tips | Are Lilies Toxic to Your Cats?】

You may wish to bring home flowers to decorate and brighten your home with spring blooms. If you are a cat parent, remember to check whether these flowers are safe for your pets beforehand, and keep them out of reach.

Lilies, particularly Lilium and Hemerocallis species, are extremely toxic to cats. Ingestion of any part of the plant can cause kidney failure and death. There have even been reports of toxicity involving cats drinking water from the vase or licking lily pollen off their fur.

Prompt, aggressive treatment before symptoms appear is crucial to saving cats that have been exposed to lilies. If you suspect your cat has ingested lilies, contact a veterinarian immediately.

Differences in breeds and physical structure will also affect how dogs use their body to communicate. For example, a pug's tail tightly coils over the back naturally when it is relaxed. While a beagle has a lower tail set in nature, and its tail may hold high over the back when it feels alerted. Besides using your own observation, you can also seek help from dog trainers. They can help develop your skills by understanding what your furry friend tries to communicate through their posture and behaviour.
