【VMC Vets Tips | Socialising Your Pet: Puppies & Kittens】

Socialisation is important for both dogs and cats to prepare them to interact with the world comfortably and healthily. If your furry friends have insufficient exposure and contact with people or other animals when they were young, they may develop irreversible fears and tend to be timid or aggressive later.

'Sensitive Period' for social training

To train your pet to become a ‘social animal’, it is best to begin at a young age. Most puppies and kittens show a high willingness to explore and play, they often show little fear when encountering new animals, people, objects, or experiences during their 'sensitive period' which is:

- Puppies: between the ages of 3 to 14 weeks.
- Kittens: 3-9 weeks of age, a bit earlier than puppies

What if my pet is already grown up and missed the 'sensitive period'? Stay tuned for our next VMC Vets Tips, or learn more at: https://bit.ly/40sxtVY
