Product Description
SANIMED Anti-Struvite is a complete dietetic food for adult cats designed to support the dissolution of struvite stones.
Indications for use
- Formation of struvite stones
- Idiopathic cystitis
- Prophylaxis of oxalate deposits
Struvite is the formation of crystals in the urine with the development of bladder stones as a result. This leads to irritation and inflammation of the urinary tract and in some cases even blockage of the urethra. SANIMED Anti-Struvite helps to reduce the amount of struvite and reduces struvite formation by its urine-acidifying effect.
SANIMED Anti-Struvite
- furthers a low urinary pH, thereby reducing the risk of struvite crystals and stones
- is low in magnesium, protein (ammonium) and phosphorus, reducing the risk of struvite
- helps slow down formation of calcium oxalate due to its low calcium and protein content
- works both as struvite dissolution as well as prevention
- can be given for an unlimited time period
Reducing and dissolving struvite
SANIMED Anti-Struvite contains the correct amount of urine acidi er, causing the average urinary pH value to lower to approx. 6.2. This pH value has an anti-struvite effect without the risk of acidosis. The low urine concentrations of magnesium, ammonium and phosphate induced by the composition of the diet food support the dissolution of struvite and help slow down further struvite formation. This means that SANIMED Anti-Struvite can both be used in patients suffering from non- obstructive struvite urolithiasis as well as in patients who are prone to a recurrence of struvite.
The formulation of SANIMED Anti-Struvite reduces the risk of calcium oxalate urolithiasis. The diet is low in calcium and glycine (which form a substrate for the synthesis of oxalate).
